Cúlra – Background
Cairde Rince Céilí na hÉireann is the national voluntary cultural organisation for the promotion of non-competitive céilí dancing among all age groups throughout Ireland. This is done by organising céilí dance classes, workshops, Fíor Chéilithe and training courses and qualifying exams for potential céilí dance teachers. Since its foundation in 1996 the organisation has been responsible for teaching céilí dancing to over 70,000 children and many adults. So far two national weekends of céilí dancing have been organised in 1997 and 2001. Both of these were held in St. Patrick’s College, Maynooth, Co. Kildare. The 2004 event will be held in Galway from 6th-8th August. Everyone is invited.
All of the events will be held in St. Mary’s College, Galway, Ireland. This is situated on a hill overlooking Galway City and is the diocesan college for Galway, Kilmacdua and Kilfenora. It is close to the University Hospital, Cathedral and the sea in Salthill. Accommodation and meals will be available in the National University of Ireland, Galway which is situated 1½ miles from St. Mary’s College. Accommodation is of a high standard and will be in double or single en-suite rooms with T.V. and phone. Both venues are within easy reach of Galway city centre.

Everybody is welcome to attend all or part of the weekend activities but a special package is available:
